The Drum Counselor brings 38 years of professional drumming to the stage and studio and 26 years of private drum lessons to KC Drum Shop.
He has worked with Anthony Gomes, Billy Goat, Brandon Miller, Cameo, Casi Joy, Curtis Salgado, Danielle Nicole, George Lynch, Heather Newman, Laurence Jones, Mike Dillon’s Go-Go Jungle, Paul Gilbert, Paul Nelson, Samantha Fish, Sister Hazel, Tori Amos and Tyson Leslie.
He taught at Explorers Percussion (Kansas City, MO) for 12 years.
He won the first ever Roland V-Drums USA Competition at Sam Ash Music in Las Vegas, NV (04-Nov-2010).

Kent Burnham
Educator and Drum Set Artist
Performing and recording with countless original and tribute bands, Kent has been a constant force in the Midwest music scene since the mid-1980s.
He was an instructor at Explorers Percussion for more than 30 years until it’s closing in the spring of 2023. He now brings his depth of knowledge to KC Drum Shop. Kent is fluent in Rock, Linear, Pop, Blues, Funk, Metal, Fusion, Reggae, Latin and Jazz.
Topics covered but not limited to: Reading, Hand/Foot technique, Timing, Independence, Double Bass, Coordination, Groove, and Vocabulary.
Each lesson is tailored to develop the individual’s own drumming goals/dreams through Kent’s motivational and patient style of teaching.
Monthly tuition $100 for (Four, 30-minute lessons)

Pat Adams
Drum Instructor
Pat Adams is a sought after drum set artist in the Kansas City area. His work includes live performance, sessions, clinics and private lessons. Striving to play many styles, he has played with virtually every notable KC artist. Some gigs include playing with Quixotic Performance Ensemble, KC jazz legends Bram Wijnands and Bobby Watson. Currently, he is holding down the drum chair with artist Barnaby Bright. Past gigs include dates with Mike Dillon, Phil Stacey, and Mark Lowery to name a few. In 2011, after a developing a deeper interest in electronic percussion, Pat competed in the Roland V drums challenge and took second place at the national level. In 2012, he officially became a member of Quixotic Performance Ensemble and spent the majority of the summer touring nationally and internationally. Pat has written original music for the group that was performed at the Lied Center in 2012. Pat also contributed to the TEDKC Event in September 2012, performing with the earth harpist Andrea Brooks. Pat has 15 years of teaching experience at Music House as well as Kansas City's main drum hub, Explorers Percussion, where he conducted clinics and group classes. In addition to live dates, Pat is busy with remote recording, where he records drum tracks from home and emails drum tracks all over the country.

Kansas City area musician with over 15 years of experience as a performance percussionist in various genres including jazz, blues, Latin, calypso, funk, classical, pop, and rock. My primary focus is on drum kit and steel pan, but I am experienced in all concert percussion instruments. In addition to performance, I am also skilled in arranging, conducting, and producing.
